ISB has launched PGP YL program for aspirants with up to 2 years experience. In addition to covering the program's key elements, we have shared our thoughts in this article. Do give it a read!
PGP YL PROGRAM DETAILS:
A Refreshing Alternative for Young Aspirants
The Post Graduate Programme in Management for Young Leaders (PGP YL) program offers a refreshing alternative to both international and domestic programs. Traditionally, international B-schools like ESADE, IE Business School, Michigan Ross, and Chicago Booth have offered Master in Management (MiM) programs for those in the very early stages of their career.
In India, leading institutions such as IIMs have been the top choices for management education. ISB's Unique Value PropositionDelivering education on par with leading global institutes but at a fraction of their costs (comparable with leading Indian institutes)
70+ resident faculty and 200+ renowned visiting faculty
Alumni network spanning over 60 countries, with more than 800 alumni in CXO or leadership positions and over 1,000 who have become successful entrepreneurs
Tailoring the Program for Young Learners
ISB has tailored the PGP YL program to suit the learning needs of individuals who are fresh graduates or have limited work experience. The academic calendar highlights several exciting initiatives designed to prepare candidates for their desired career roles after graduation:
Innovation through Design Exploration and Actionable Solutions (iDEAS): This hands-on business design lab allows students to tackle real-world business challenges and foster a customer-centric mindset
Summer Internship: A mandatory internship at the end of year 1 provides valuable hands-on experience in a professional setting and an opportunity to explore career options and enhance resumes
Platform for Innovation and Venture Oriented Thinking (PiVOT): This platform enables students to create comprehensive business plans with validated business models and launch plans for long-term success

Accessibility of this program is expected to be improved through scholarships- ~40-50% of the class to receive scholarships, including:
Merit-Based Scholarships: Up to 100% scholarships for candidates with the highest comprehensive interview scores
Merit-Cum-Need Scholarship: For candidates demonstrating both merit and financial need
ISB Develop India Scholarship: Supporting students committed to contributing to India's growth and development
POSSIBLE REPERCUSSIONS & OUR ANALYSIS:
There will be an increased influx of finance and general management placements at Indian School of Business going forward, majorly driven by the introduction of internships and lower work experience cohort in PGP YL program
There might be a proportionate reduction in the batch size of the PGP program
It would be interesting to understand the normalization process of different test scores- mainly CAT v. GMAT/ GRE test scores. Additionally, IIMs would face increased competition to attract candidates to their programs. We would have to wait and watch how IIMs would react to PGP YL program. Our guess is- in the short term, we might see an increase in scholarships at IIMs
Lastly, we cannot stress this enough- the success of the PGP YL program will heavily depend on the smooth integration of this program with the existing PGP community. It is essential to facilitate the collaboration between PGP YL and PGP (the ‘OG’ one!) programs to exploit the existing alumni synergies
